Justin McKenzie
Through my professional journey overseas and domestically, I’ve witnessed firsthand the economic transition from manufacturing to tech. From working in Juarez to successfully building and scaling high-volume electronics manufacturing operations to building next generation energy analytics software, I understand the impact work and opportunity have on people. My work and travel helped me develop a profound appreciation for diverse workforce backgrounds, work ethic, and the value of individuals.
I am passionate about understanding the rapid growth of Texas and the significant impact it has on rural America as urban, suburban, and rural areas merge. Fueled by my belief that innovation occurs at all levels, I actively explore regional opportunities to connect capital with transformative ideas. In addition to hosting Building Texas, you’ll find me leading in roles at Das Greenhaus and the Boerne Kendall County Angel Network to drive meaningful progress and fostering innovation.

My name is Somer Baburek, I'm a native Texan, and I've represented this great state nationally in different capacities as a national rodeo queen, professional athlete, and now as a biotech entrepreneur. People are surprised at how different the reality of Texas is from their perceptions and I'm excited to be here to highlight all of the innovative things my home state is building, and the people that are making it happen.
