Miles Murray

Miles Murray is a native Texan, veteran, and the co-founder and CEO of LOCOAL, a sustainability hardware and software company focused on waste recovery and carbon capture.  

A leader with a talent and passion for developing highly capable technology teams, Miles’ experience ranges from playing football at the United States Military Academy to leading a company of US Army Soldiers in remote environments and in combat zones to managing enterprise-wide technology programs and portfolios at USAA.

A four-time entrepreneur, Miles’ latest endeavor, Locoal, is his most ambitious project to date and aims to tackle some of the most complex problems of our day: zero-waste economics, commercializing carbon-capture, renewable energy resiliency, and climate adaptation innovation. 

Beyond experience, Miles holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point (2007), an MBA from the University of Texas in San Antonio (2016), and a Master of Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas in Austin (2019).

Miles’ accomplishments, certifications, and awards: Purple Heart Medal (2009-10), Bronze Star Medal (2009-10), Combat Action Badge (2009-10), CSO50 Award (2015), Certified Agile Practitioner (2016-p), Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt (2017-20), Wells Fargo Clean Energy Award (2018), IC^2 Certified Innovator (2019), and MIT Global Clean Energy Finalist (2019).

Miles and his wife, Valerie, reside in central Texas where they are raising two young boys: Matthew and Nathaniel. In their free time, they spend as much time as they can outdoors exploring and playing sports. And come December every year, its ‘Go Army, Beat Navy!’
